Monstera Deliciosa is commonly known as the “swiss cheese plant” for its unique texture and leaves. The holes are the plants way of maximizing the amount of light captured while decreasing the surface area of the leaf/the amount the plant has to support. These plants are native to the Central American rain forests and have a growth rate of 1 to 2 feet per year. They prefer indirect sunlight, making this an ideal indoor plant. Water every 1 to 2 weeks in the summer months and more occasionally during the winter. This plant prefers humidity so misting the plant will allow it to thrive in your home. This plant comes in a variety of sizes and can be utilized to fill any space.

Native to Northern China, Pilea Peperomioides is a great option for indoor environments. As long as there is bright, indirect sunlight and semi-regular waterings, this plant will thrive and flourish in any home. Although this is more of a rare species and hard to find in local botanical stores, it is considered a fan favorite for its quirky appearance. This plant will spice up any funky space. Pilea Peperomioides prefer a bright space, but the leaves are delicate so it is important to avoid any harsh direct sunlight. Once the plant is acquired, propagation is fairly easy, making this a great investment.

This gorgeous plant is unique for its brightly colored veins, adding a subtle pop of color to any space. Native to the Brazilian rainforests, it prefers humidity so misting every once in a while will allow it to flourish in indoor environments. This plant does require a bit more  attention than other houseplants, but it’s beauty proves worth the extra care. Indirect bright sunlight is best for this species as well as frequent waterings. If overwatered, the plant is susceptible to fungus so make sure the soil dries after each watering.
